Around St. Petersburg

For our final day in St. Petersburg, we were on our own, so we wandered around a bit, and ventured into the subway system. It is a limited and pretty simple system, but very, VERY deep, to get under the swamp on which the city is built. We sought a museum about the siege of Leningrad (St. Petersburg) during WWII. We were unsuccessful in finding the museum, but had a great wander, and even managed to get ourselves back to the Hotel Rachmaninov, which I highly recommend for its price, centrality, and quirkiness.

Our subway route was the “blue number two” and they designate their subway with a stylized M for “Metro” — when you see the pic, you’ll get it, but I had to share with you that jack was calling the symbol we were keying our travels on, “the Bluetooth.” So we spent our time underground looking for the Bluetooth.

We’re off to Copenhagen today, and really looking forward to meeting up with Ini and Lee for a few days visit and shared exploration. We are also connecting with Copenhagen resident and great good friend of Mary Dashiell, Bertel Bjerre. On to the next chapter!
